WEEKLY MICHIGAN FISHING REPORT NOVEMBER 20TH 2023

It’s Thanksgiving week! Here’s the latest fishing report:

EAST SIDE PEIRS

WHITEFISH: Anglers are catching Whitefish on the piers along Lake Huron. Anglers are using small tungsten jigs tipped with waxworms. Anglers say the rougher the conditions the better, and a wind blowing into the pier is best.

BURBOT: Anglers are catching Burbot on the Saginaw Bay piers. Anglers are using Perch rigs tipped with Shad. Anglers are saying the Burbot fishing is good when there are schools of Shad present on the piers. Some anglers use cast nets to catch bait. Night fishing seems to produce best.

SALMON/STEELHEAD: Anglers are catching Salmon and Steelhead on the piers along Lake Huron. Spinners, Jerkbaits, and spoons seem to be most effective, even though some anglers prefer spawn and skein. Fish during low light hours.

DETROIT RIVER AND ST. CLAIR RIVER

WALLEYE: Anglers are catching Walleye between the Ambassador and Gordie Howe bridges, on the Canadian side along Peche Island, and on the slopping points on the front of mid river islands. Use 1 oz. jigs tipped with a soft plastic minnow style bait and a minnow. Anglers report a tough bite, be prepared to fish hard.

ST. CLAIR

PERCH: Anglers are still catching Perch in good numbers from 9 Mile tower down to the mouth of the Detroit River. Use Perch Rigs tipped with Emerald Shiners. Follow the boats or bounce around until you locate fish.

INLAND LAKES

BASS, PIKE, AND CRAPPIE: For the die-hards still hitting the inland lakes trying to scrounge up a couple bites, find most game fish in the remaining living weeds or on hard structure like docks and laydown trees.

STEELHEAD RIVERS:

STEELHEAD: Anglers don’t have much to report as far as Steelhead fishing goes. Some anglers concentrate their efforts downstream closer to the lake, while others focus on the piers, and others spend more time upstream trying to trick the egg eaters. Fish with Beads, Spawn, Spinners, Jerkbaits, and Spoons for best results.
